"Call of God on my life?" - Received from J**** - January, 2009
Good morning, I was listening to a message by a tv religious program & they caught my attention, by "Call of God on my Life". What does that mean? Is it about what God has placed on my heart to do something?

Good morning to you, that is normally what people mean by it, it has sort of become a catchphrase for when a person feels the need to get serious about their Christianity. I think a lot of people use it when they are referring to going into full time Christian ministry, but it can mean a lot more than that. I know a Christian lady who has been gifted as a writer. For a number of years she has written an email letter of devotional thoughts, encouragement, and Christian insights into life, and she got started years ago because she felt that it was something that she could do. And she does it very well. I don't know if she would say that she got started because that was "God's call on her life," probably she would say that God called her to be a wife, mother, and lots of other things, and - Oh yeah, a writer too. But it is a ministry that helps a lot of people.
Something to think about, the Bible tells us that "in our hearts, there dwells no good thing" so if anything good occurs to us, or shows up in our hearts, then God must have put it there, right? Consequently, I suppose that any time any good thing motivates us, it is probably from God. So maybe we ought to get better at listening and doing?
Thanks for asking,
Richard
